Since he was seven years old, Jesse Palmer dreamed of playing for the NFL. A kid from Nepean, Ontario, with quarterback posters covering every inch of his bedroom walls, Palmer had the determination, talent and support to make his dream happen.
After sending a VHS tape to the Florida Gators’ head coach, he secured a scholarship at the University of Florida and was later drafted by the New York Giants.
Always open to new opportunities, Palmer became the fourth “Bachelor” in 2004 during the NFL off-season — the first pro athlete to do so. Finding he enjoyed being in front of the camera, Palmer started broadcasting college football games, a role that led to Fox Sports and ESPN spots.
In this episode of Chatter That Matters, Palmer talks about how he took lessons learned on and off the football field and applied them to his career after football. Don’t miss the lessons Palmer shares about fast-tracking your career, choosing doors that make you happiest and being open to new opportunities — no matter how far outside your comfort zone they appear.
Chatter That Matters is hosted by the Marketing Hall of Legends and the Canadian Marketing and PR Hall of Fame Inductee Tony Chapman. Tony wants to counter the storm of negativity and a growing sense of impossibility by sharing true stories of possibility and positivity. Stories of people who make things happen, despite today’s challenging circumstances. In doing so, he hopes their life lessons inspire others to do more and to be more. RBC is the presenting sponsor.
