When asked how the Baeumlers balance the myriad of demands on their life, Bryan jokes that they have a great team of editors who make everything look smooth and seamless. Behind the scenes, however, there is a lot of hard work, risks, peaks, valleys, mistakes and do-overs, which Bryan and Sarah share with Tony Chapman in the latest Chatter That Matters podcast.
In the episode, Bryan takes Tony back to the pair’s early days, and opens up about the advice he received from his parents when he started out in construction, including that there are no shortcuts to success. Sarah shares how following her passions at a young age launched her creative journey, which has since evolved to include fashion, design and the Sarah Baeumler brand.
The couple also talks about Bryan’s earlier battles with severe anxiety, and how the strength of their partnership helped him through. When it comes to building a business and taking risks, they share the importance of perspective, and a realistic view of what a worst-case scenario may look like. “The only failure is not doing anything,” Bryan says.
Admitting balancing work, life and self is difficult, Bryan and Sarah chat with Tony about the need to prioritize — and how life’s priorities change. “Sometimes you need to prioritize time for yourself and time for your spouse and it’s okay,” says Sarah. “Life isn’t about finding balance,” says Bryan, “it’s about having a quiver of tools you can use to react to different situations.”
Bryan and Sarah talk about buying and renovating their Bahamas boutique resort, Caerula Mar Club, which involved three years of hard work, the hurricane that nearly destroyed it all, and when the pandemic halted international travel right before their new resort’s opening.
Courageous and adventurous, Bryan and Sarah Baeumler demonstrate how anything is possible when you throw caution to the wind, surround yourself with the right people and trust your instincts.
Tony Chapman created the Chatter That Matters podcast to counter the storm of negativity and impossibility with true stories of ordinary people who do extraordinary things. He chats with Olympians, Advocates, Celebrities, Leaders, and people who battled what seemed like insurmountable odds.
